Winter Wardrobe

With winter fast approaching, I need to move all my jackets and coats from storage at my mom’s house, to my flat... However, I have a teeny weensy cupboard, and have already got grief from Mr. Makebelieve for using the back of the door in our study (technically his dressing room). The perfect solution would be to find a gorgeous wardrobe, something that would work just as well as a storage unit, as it would a fab decor feature. Below is some stunning inspiration from luxe + lilies.

I will have to save diligently every month before I am able to indulge in the perfect wardrobe...
But as Mr. Makebelieve's father says, "Dreaming is for free".

Life & Learning

This past week has been somewhat testing. The build up alone made me doubt my abilities, and understanding of a job that I have been doing since December. Granted, it is like nothing I have ever done before, but surely it can’t be this difficult...Or can it? I really believe that after doing this job, barring open heart surgery, I can do most anything. Every day I learn something new, and every day I am faced with new challenges. I am doing things that I have never done before, and it seems I am just expected to know exactly how to do what is expected, with a vague understanding of what it is that is expected. Some people believe that being thrown into the deep end is the best way to learn how to swim – and here I am, swimming, perhaps not with the most grace, but I am perfecting my stroke as I go.

“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”

Keep Calm

This week is going to be a crazy one, spent the whole of last week planning for it... Hence the lack of posting.

Will try my hardest to sneak in a post or two...

Patriotic Proteas

I have become mildly obsessed with Proteas of late.  It is interesting to note that the Protea was named after the Greek god Proteus, who could change form at will, because Proteas have such a wide variety of forms.

Lovely Lingerie

I think lingerie is very often a neglected part of one’s dress. Perhaps this is because it is worn under clothing, and is not really seen by other people. Nevertheless, I view it as the essential foundation of any outfit.
Below are some photos of designs done by the lovely Alix of The Cherry Blossom girl, in collaboration with Etam.

Grey Matter

As you may have read before, Mr. Makebelieve and I do not agree on decor. In an effort to compromise, I have abandoned floral, for a less feminine feel in our bedroom. Mr. Makebelieve loves black, and I love white, and in an effort to reach some sort of settlement, we (or was it just me) decided on grey.
Below are some gorgeous pictures I have collected as inspiration for our gorgeous, gender neutral bedroom. I am in love with the yellow to add some colour and warmth to our room.

Lady Grey

Once again I packed my suitcase, and set off for the Easter weekend. Mr. Makebelieve and I went down to the small rural village of Lady Grey. A quaint little town founded in 1858, Lady Grey is surrounded by the beautiful Witteberg Mountain Range.

Mr. Makebelive attended The Lady Grey Arts Academy, and was invited to attend a reunion in this town that has more gravel roads than tarred roads. The Academy hosts a Passion Play once a year during the Easter Weekend. For three days the cast and audience is lead from place to place in the village to act out the various scenes.

It was amazing to experience the town that holds so many memories for Mr.MB.
