I really believe that fashion illustration is a dying art, these days everything seems to be computer generated. I however will not let it die, there is something so beautiful about roughly sketched lines, coloured in using water colour, markers, pencil, ink or even collage… The mediums are endless, not to mention the many different ways you can represent the human form, from abstract to stylised and even realistic. I am looking forward to a weekend filled with design; I visited Herbert Evans, and am equipped with a crisp new layout pad, and a zippy new clutch pencil- Inspired and ready!

ReplyDeleteWow! I love all of these illustrations, they're so inspiring. I'm hoping to post some of my fashion illustration on my blog http://lovefromanastasia.blogspot.co.uk/ and would love it if you took a look X
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found them inspiring! I will keep an eye out on your blog to see some of your illustrations - Looking forward to it!
DeleteI read what you wrote about fashion illustration dying and being replaced by CAD generated illustrations and I completely agree! I've been on about a hundred blogs and about a thousand websites just today alone, hoping to find some illustrators that still appreciate the work that can only be done by hand, unfortunately it is becoming very rare...

It is very sad, but perhaps because it is becoming more and more rare, people will learn to appreciate it so much more... At least you and I will :)
